Hey all,
I have a laptop here that sometimes will completely lock up with no reason. I thought it was a cooling problem but i really don't know anymore as sometimes when i jar the monitor it'll lock as well. I know it's blue screened on my gf a few times too. Any suggestions on what to try to get this machine running right? I want to give it to someone or at the very least sell it for a little extra money.

Do you have an app on your Iphone Rat that will read your laptop screen so you can see if there is an error code? Possiblely with that you can use the code to look your problem up.

the farthest i know of error is wndows saying it's recovered from an unexpected shutdown. when it freezes the screen goes black

Does it always happen after the computer has been going for, say, 20 minutes or more? Some of those laptop batteries get pretty darn hot.

Bob

In other words, could it be a heat issue?

i don't think it's pure heat as it can be anyware from 5 minutes to over a days use of the machine before it does this. sometimes within a minute.

Are you good enough at removing malware to rule out an infection? What model of laptop is it?

it's a tosheba satalite a135. i don't think it's malware as it did this almost instantly after a reformat of the machine, before it even got near internet
